About me
My Background
After graduating from University of Waterloo with a degree in Germanic and Slavic languages and literature, legal studies, and having spent two years studying in Europe, I was heading toward a career of international diplomatic relations. And then life happened: I put all my energy into raising my 5 beautiful children instead, as well as volunteering my time with several organizations to try to make a difference wherever I could. 25 years later, and I would love to use what I have learned along the way to make the world a better place.
My Experience
The scope of my volunteer work has been focused in 3 areas:
- Autism research and educational best practice;
- Community safety & accessibility; and
- Environmental conservation, restoration & stewardship.
My Community Accomplishments
- Convinced Ramara Council to reduce the speed limit and implement a Community Safety Zone on Switch Road;
- Demonstrated the need for Ramara township to include a forgotten community in its plan to bring fiber internet to underserved areas;
- Advocated for a local community's fight against a quarry expansion within about the length of a football field to a thriving community, wetland, and lake as a founding grassroots director of Ramara Legacy Alliance; and
- Rallied another local community to fight for their right to keep their safe drinking water wells, which recently came under threat of fragmentation.
